At the last election I pledged that I would always fight to protect our Green Belt, especially where there are idle brownfield sites available for development. In the subsequent years I have delivered on that promise, in opposition to the Labour-run Warrington Borough Council.
As MP I successfully pushed for the inclusion of the Fiddler's Ferry site for development in the Local Plan, having been initially omitted by the Council. I also spoke out against the excessive proposed building on Green Belt land, such as the Six:56 logistics hub which was subsequently called in for review after my intervention, and I'm pleased that the inspectors agreed with my stance.
I want to see a brownfield first approach to development, one which prioritises regenerating those sites like Fiddler's Ferry as well as our town centre. The record speaks for itself, unlike Warrington Labour I will always make the case for building the right developments in the right places with the proper infrastructure to go alongside them.
